Today marks the second day that Ramadan is observed in my country. Whilst the fast is observed only by the Muslims,the month of Ramadan seems to bring a special significance to all Malaysians......bonded by our special love for food! During this month special stalls called Bazaar Ramadan are opened all over the cities,selling delicacies not normally available. Connoisseurs are advised to come early though because Muslims and non-Muslims alike will flock to these bazaars to snap up the specials.
The breaking of fast have also taken on a social significance. Non Muslims will join up with their Muslim colleagues for the breaking of fast in the five star and other f&b establishments. The international chains would have chefs specially flown in the from middle eastern countries for this occasion.You have to book way in advance for places.
Its so refreshing to note these positive developments that 50 years of independence have brought to my country.
